Sam had nearly gotten pulled over by the police in his hurry to get to the hotel. Stupid speedtraps from Hell. He'd spotted it coming, he and Dean had managed to do as much over time, and had only just avoided being busted. It was a lucky break, really. Though if he had gotten pulled over, Sam probably wouldn't have had the patience for conversation with one of the local pigs. He'd have knocked him out or something, adding on to the list of things that the police would want his head for. It didn't matter. Nothing else mattered to him, not right now, nothing except for getting to Faith and making sure that those sons of bitches didn't take her away from him again.
Having made sure that the front desk was aware of his passing through - but only just, he wasn't exactly chatty - Sam hurried down the familiar path to Faith's room and shoved the door open.
And there, the second he stumbled into the room, he found her. Curled up in the corner, looking far too vulnerable for his liking. So very different from the vampire that he had watched Spike fight. So very, very different. His heart jumped in his chest and Sam shifted forward, immediately kneeling down beside her.
"Faith," he started, a hand moving toward her shoulder.
