"Yeah," Sam said, nodding, "love always is." Very, very confusing. Sometimes it made you want to pull your hair out, other times it made you want to do crazy things like jump up and sing. There were days when Sam often wondered why people who were so invested in their relationships had failed to go completely insane.
Because it's all worth it, he reminded himself. And it was. Every last second. Even down to the stupid little fights that held no meaning whatsoever.
Stupid little fights. That was the last thing he and Faith did before she vanished. He hoped that Ruby was right. Sam didn't know what he'd do if Faith didn't turn up soon.
"Okay," Sam agreed, "I will." He shoved his hand into his pocket, wrapping his fingers around the flask. He'd have to be patient with it. Sam didn't want to go back to Ruby tomorrow begging for more just because he blew it all tonight.
He offered Ruby another faint smile. "I'll be in touch. Now get home. Find Castiel." Sam took a step back and looked down sheepishly. "And try not to get lost in the past again."
