The disappearances were hitting Heidi hard, but worse still were the fact that many of the disappearances were being replaced with completely different people. To see the face of a friend or loved one twisted into something unrepentantly evil was just about the most frightening thing that Heidi could imagine. She could only thank her lucky stars that so far, Nathan and the boys and the Claires were still alright. If something happened to them...
She could see the weight of everyone's fate was on her husband's shoulders as well. There Nathan was, his head in his hands, and Heidi felt for him. He tried so much...to be so much and do so much...in this city he had turned into the man she always knew he could be. And yet, sometimes, that man hurt much more than he had to because he took care of too many people.
She came up behind him, her fingers working on his tense back muscles. "Hi handsome." She whispered, leaning in to kiss the back of his neck. "You ok?"
