The sudden lack of emotion on her face was intriguing. There weren't many that could pull that look off. He didn't reply, however until she'd fully finished her explanation. Then he smirked.
"Bet your fun at parties," he commented mildly. Then the knife he kept against his spine was out, his arm twisting and the blade stopping inches from a figure standing just off to the side of them.
"Got three seconds," the Furyan stated. "And I don't count."
"Sorry, man!" came the startled reply, a pair of dirt-covered hands coming up in a sign of surrender. Riddick eased up on the blade to his throat somewhat and jerked his head for the man to step out of the shadows. A normal, human man... who was anything but the innocent soul he was pretending to be. "I just heard voices and thought..."
"Figured you'd have a little fun at the lady's expense?" Riddick finished for him. The blade went harder against the man's throat as he seemed to stare right through him. Then, just as suddenly, the knife was gone, back in its sheath. "Two seconds."
That was all the encouragement the guy needed. He made a beeline for the path and was over the hill and out of sight in a matter of seconds. Riddick waited until he was gone before looking back to Sarah. "Not all monsters come with fangs," he stated simply and continued on toward the shoreline.
