WHEN: Midnight- June 4th
WHERE: The woods
RATING: PG13
STATUS: Narrative- COMPLETE
She hated to admit it, but Sam Winchester had a point. Once upon a time she had done exactly this, swapping with an alternative universe and she knew exactly what was needed to work such a spell. And even though she no longer had that kind of power, she knew who did.
Even though she spent most nights in Xander's room, tonight she claimed a post research headache and slipped into her own room for a change, waiting until late to rummage through her drawer of trinkets. Right at the very back was an amulet she'd never told anyone she had. About the size of the palm of her hand, the dark metal felt heavy in her grip as she slipped out of the hotel quietly. She wasn't dumb, she signed out appropriately and even left a private message for Sarah, just in case. But she needed somewhere quiet, somewhere alone. A clearing in the woods was ideal.
After setting up various wards to keep back the nasties of the night, Anya carefully poured a circle of sand before standing calmly in the center, holding the amulet in both hands.
"Beatum sit in nomine D'Hoffrynis. Fiat hoc spatium porta ad mundum Arashmaharris"
There was a flash and some smoke before a booming voice echoed.
"Behold, D'Hoffryn. Lord of Arashmahar. He that turns the air to blood and rains down, oh, it's you." D'Hoffryn dropped the impressive voice as he looked down at Anya. "What do you want Anyanka?"
"Hello D'Hoffryn," Anya was proud of the way her voice stayed steady as she looked at her former boss. "You know of what's been happening in this city?"
"Dimensional walls are being weakened, switches are happening, what of it?" The Higher Demon sounded more bored than anything else as he rolled his eyes.
"Is it a wish?"
The demon smirked cruelly. "You want to know if it's one of your former colleagues behind all of this. Why? Missing the power Anyanka?" He sighed and carried on before she could answer. "No matter, it's not one of mine. It's deliberate, yes, but nothing to do with the Wish."
Anya let out a breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding, strangely relieved it wasn't anything to do with her former life.
"How can I stop it?" She regretted the question as soon as she asked it, not liking the calculating look that appeared in D'Hoffryn's eyes.
"You were always one of my favorites Anyanka. I've had many girls over the centuries, but you, you always had a real flair for vengeance. I do miss you. So, here," he pulled out a necklace from his cloak. A green gem encased in gold.
"Take this. Put it around your neck and you will have your powers once again. Immortality, wielding the power of the wish. Then all it would take is a few little words and everything can be set right again. Or, leave this to gather dust in your drawer and watch as more people are wrenched from their reality. Whichever."
Anya didn't have much choice when it came to taking the power center, holding the warm necklace in her hand.
"Make your choice, Anyanka." D'Hoffryn looked at her in that way he always had, right deep into her soul, using her old name. She knew she should destroy it, smash the thing and refuse the power it offered her. But all she could do was slip it into her pocket with a faintly shaking hand.
"As I said, put it around your neck, and you will have your powers," D'Hoffryn nodded before the flash of light came and he vanished, leaving Anya alone once more in the woods.
