Time really didn't put a dampner on that moment. Lindsey's fist came down like he was about to slam it on the table but he stopped barely an inch from making contact. "He didn't even have the balls to do it himself. My problem wasn't with Lorne or Wesley or Gunn or Big Blue. It was with him, all these years, and he puts me down by flunky," he snapped, his appetite gone as the anger took its place. "And I wasn't even the one to put a stake through his heart."
That part really pissed him off. It hadn't even been someone who had a history with Angel. Just someone who happened to be in the fight at the time and didn't even care either way. "It was my right to do it." Angelus or Angel, it didn't matter. Not that Lorne was blameless in the matter either. He could have said no, let him walk away with a warning, but he'd followed through on the one thing that went against his nature. "Fuck 'em all."
One word made him look up and he had a pang of guilt. Everyone saw the woman in front of him as an instrument of evil but she'd betrayed her bosses to help him, on his mission for freedom and revenge. She'd given up her immortality for him and that wasn't something people did often. He still cared deeply for her and that wouldn't change.
He cleared his throat before continuing. "That too. But the Senior Partners were hoping for some fast corruption and the team held out a long time. Even got an Old One on their team. I hate the Senior Partners a little more than I hated Angel. If someone else was putting a thorn in their paw the same time we were, even better."
