"A little birdie in my head told me you'd be here." The mocking voice sent a chill down Faith the Vampire Slayer's spine.
"Ooh. Exciting." Angelus had that damn smirk on his face as he looked at Faith and Wesley before Faith stepped forward, determined as she aimed the dart gun and pulled the trigger. Fucking vampire reflexes. Angelus dodged, kicking Faith hard in the stomach, making her stumble back and crash into a column. Dimly she heard Wes fire the shot gun.
"Gotta do better than that, Wes," Angelus mocked. " Come on, I'll give you one more." But Angelus grabbed the gun instead, still smirking. "Strike three." As he threw Wes casually through the glass, Faith knew she should be concerned. But all she could focus on was the broken needle in her hand. The Orpheus trickled out, useless. The plan, the only plan they'd had, was ruined. And Angelus wasn't finished.
"Uh-oh. Vampire with a gun." He shot at Faith, sending her running until she fell down the stairs. "I can see why he likes this thing." Casually he followed the fallen Slayer. "Wow." He almost waved the gun in her face as she looked up from her position on the ground. "You really have gone soft now, haven't you? Hey, you remember that time you tried to get Angel to kill you because you felt all weepy over being such a bad little girl. Huh? Do you still feel that way? Do you still wanna die?"
Faith looked away, feelings of both pain and shame crashing over her before she replied, her tone no more than a mumble. "No."
He could hear her, she knew that. Vampire hearing and all. But still Angelus looked at her. "What's that?"
"No." Louder this time, hating herself for doing it.
"I can't hear you." That sing song voice of his was rapidly getting on her nerves and she snapped, yelling this time.
"No!"
Angelus looked down at her, cocking the gun anyway and making her flinch away.
"Too bad, because you're gonna." He kept cocking the gun, over and over again, each click echoing around the large space before he smirked. "But not like this."
Furious, Faith kicked the shotgun away from Angelus, before taking a swipe at his feet. As he jumped out of the way she took advantage of the pause and jumped up to her feet and started punching him in the face, making the vampire laugh.
"Looks like we got a live one." He punched her hard in the face with a smirk. "For now." He kicked her, hard enough to make her stumble backwards. "A little tired, sweetie? You wanna take a break?" Another kick sent her rolling away, before she forced herself to her hands and knees, her body still not healed from the fight with the Beast screaming for a break as blood dripped to the floor.
"Now, this is disappointing," Angelus continued. "You never used to bleed so easy."
"Screw you." Faith retorted, the pain still clear in her voice.
"Maybe after," Angelus sounded like he was actually considering it. " I like my girls to lie still." He glanced up, a show of casualness as he called out to the barely conscious Wesley. "Hey, buddy, how's it goin' in there? Good old Wes. Always count on him to tackle a bad situation and make it worse. I mean, hey, look how you turned out. But then again, I guess he really didn't have much to work with now." The grin he offered down to Faith made her really want to knock his teeth out, even as she forced a laugh.
"Save the head trip, GQ. Wes told me you'd try to get under my skin. Gave me just what I needed to scratch you out." As she coughed, Angelus laughed darkly, rolling his eyes.
"Oh ho. Don't tell me. The rousing stiff upper lip speech. Rah rah. Good over evil. Do what must be done. Hang in there, kitten, it's almost Friday. Is that what the scraggly little ponce armed you with to fight the big, bad boogey man?"
"Yeah, and this." Faith grabbed the knife she'd hidden in her jacket, throwing it into his chest. Before he could react, she yanked it out again, slicing him a few more times before he kicked her away and jumped up into the scaffolding.
"That hurt, baby," he called down as Faith tried to work out where he was. "Kinda liked it. How 'bout you? There's my girl. I knew she was in there somewhere dying to come out and play again."
"Shut up"
"I know how it feels—forced to be someone you're not. Hurts to the bone. You try to bury the pain, but you can't get the hole deep enough, can you? No matter how much you dig, it's still there. Broken shards stabbing every time you breathe, cutting you up inside. You know, there's only one way to make the pain stop." Suddenly he jumped down behind her. "Hurt someone else."
Faith turned to try to stab him again before he grabbed at her wrist, forcing her to drop the knife. He kicked her hard, hard enough to send her flying up into the scaffolding. As he jumped up to follow her, she ducked and swung around, desperately trying to avoid his blows as they lept from one level to the next. But she just wasn't quick enough. Finally Angelus caught up with her, throwing her to the ground before jumping down to land next to her.
"Come on, Faith, you're not even trying." Angelus sounded almost bored as he punched Faith. "Or is that why you really came back, huh? Not enough to punish yourself in prison? Is that it? Still looking for someone to help beat the bad out of you?" He punched her in the face, hard enough to send her sprawling to the floor. "You know what the funny part is, darling? I could beat you death, and it wouldn't make a difference. Nothing will ever change who you are, Faith." A kick to her face made her yelp with pain. "You're a murderer." Another, harder punch to the face. "An animal." Another punch, this time followed by him grabbing her hair and pulling her face close to his. "And you enjoy it." A final punch sent her to the ground again as Angelus stood back with triumph. "Just like me."
That was enough to make the Rogue Slayer see red, jumping up and lunging for the smirking vampire, raining blows on him until he went down. Even when he was on the ground she stood over him, hitting his face over and over again.
"No," Faith made herself stop, snarling slightly. "You're wrong. I'm different now. I'm not like you"
There was a pause before Angelus kicked at Faith's ankles, pulling her feet out from under her and sending her to the ground. His movements were swift as he grabbed her from behind and vamped out.
"You will be." The words sent a shiver down her before he bit down on her neck. A cry escaped her lips as the fangs pierced her skin and she tried to pull away. But Angelus held her too tightly as he kept drinking her blood. Wesley finally crashed through the last layer of scaffolding, intending to come to her aid before he froze in horror. This hadn't been the plan. Angelus was supposed to be drugged by now, not still drinking from her. All the former Watcher could do was watch as the light gradually drained from his Slayer's eyes. Finally, Angelus stopped, while Faith was still, barely, able to breathe. He looked up and smirked darkly at Wes before he used his fang to tear open his own wrist and forcing it to Faith's mouth. As much as Faith tried to resist, the vampire's blood began to pour down her throat before the world went black.
2006.
Faith the vampire lounged back on her chair, looking mostly bored. Once upon a time this whole begging for their lives thing had given her a thrill, but not for quite a while. Her eyes moved up and met the dark gaze of her lover's. Her Sire. Angelus. It had been an eventful few years. After she had awoken, Angelus had brought her her first meal, a pretty, young teenage girl. Faith had torn open her throat and drained her dry. Then they'd gone and had fun. Killing Wesley had given her such a kick. Tying him down again, with the flames and the shallow cuts so he would remain conscious. But this time there was no crying out from him, no attempts at sarcasm. Just his constant gaze on her, looking simply sad. This time there was no rescue from Angel. Just Faith finally getting bored and ripping into his arteries.
Gunn and Fred had gone down swinging, she had to give them that. But against two vampires like them they hadn't stood a chance. Cordelia had tried to bargain again, but something about her scent was just wrong and Angelus had sneered before snapping her neck. The green demon had fled while the brat tried for bravado. Faith played with him a while before killing him. Angelus had entered and looked down at the dead body of his son before smiling darkly at his creation.
"Let's go to Sunnydale."
That had been fun. Ripping into the people she'd considered both friends and enemies at different times. A new Slayer was already activated in Sunnydale, a young brat named Kennedy. Faith had enjoyed torturing her to death. Buffy had been Angelus's. Played with while Faith amde the others watch. None had escaped by the time the vampire duo skipped town.
That had been three years ago and the whispers about the pair had spread across America. The Scourge of Europe has returned, the rumors said, before Faith swiftly corrected them. She was not Darla, nor the insane seer. She was the Rogue Slayer, turned vampire. She was something this world had never witnessed. Angelus had created something entirely new.
Finally the begging bored her too much and she leaned forward and dug her fingernails into the soft neck of the cute little hunter before her, tearing out the throat before she sat back and idly licked the blood from her fingers. Angelus laughed darkly as he watched her.
"There's never any challenge for you any more, is there."
Faith uncrossed her leather clad legs and jumped up, prowling towards her lover. "Then find me something good. Something exciting." She reached up and kissed him, letting her taste the blood on her tongue. His hands tangled in her hair as he pulled her roughly to him.
"Go, get some sleep and I'll bring you something fun for when you wake up."
She grinned before turned away, a strange mixture of a yelp and a purr escaping when he smacked her ass before she sauntered up to their bed.
When she woke up everything was different. The room was all wrong, there were no screams echoing from nearby. The vampire looked up sharply, her lip curled back to show her fangs. She got up abruptly, moving to pick up a framed picture on the nearby dresser. It was her. Only different. Her hair was longer in the picture, and she had a faint tan. Angelus preferred her hair short, just as when they first met and Faith now wore the cold paleness of someone who hadn't seen the sun in years.
She gripped the photoframe so hard the glass cracked. There were others in the picture, people she didn't recognise. What was this? Was this the something new Angelus had promised?
She nearly wrenched the door off it's hinges as she stalked downstairs. As her eyes took in the surroundings she realized she knew this place. It was the Hyperion, as impossible as that was. They had burned it to the ground years ago, laughing as all traces of Angel went up in flames. Her vampiric features retracted, leaving the face of the girl she once was behind as she looked around, confused.
