Gabriel picked out the two faint thoughts in the strings of the others, eyes lifting sharply from the ground and scanning the crowd, moving quickly from one thought string to another until he found the one that he was looking for, ignoring the forming headache that was pounding behind his eyes.
Hearing voices was one thing, but this was something else entirely. If it had happened before, he probably would have thought he was going crazy, but now... Now, he just needed to sort this out. And if it was happening to someone else.... Maybe it would offer him some sort of explanation.
Slipping through the crowd, his target evident by the straight path that he was waving, Gabriel reached out tentatively, unsure how this worked. But if he was wrong, he wouldn't have anything to worry about. If he was wrong, nobody but himself would hear him then.
