The blood was a gift, a gift that he was finally learning to use, finally accepting. The things that would follow. But now wasn't the time to dwell on his worries, his self doubt. He began to drink from her and Ruby focused on that unable to resist a smile as he did so, It felt good knowing she was playing her part, helping Sam on his way even if it was in this strange dimension free of Lilith, free of anything to do with her reasons.
Here it was just a failsafe. But one she had decided was needed.
And he wasn't pushing against the blood as much, she could feel that even as he drank, something had already begun to change in him and Ruby knew she had been right to suggest this night, drinking more than once in a night, they might get five or six smaller doses over the night, and he'd learn, her Sammy, her Boy King, would learn that the blood was a good thing, learn it was needed. That she knew best.
"You're special Sam" she told him, knowing she was echoing Azazel's words but also knowing he'd never suspect she meant them in any way the same as he had "And you're doing this for good reasons, the right reasons. No one else would do what you have"
There was an ego there, she'd discovered it during that summer without Dean in his life, and sure this Sam hadn't experianced that but some things about Sam Winchester didn't change. And that was one of them. Still it was good, she suspected it would help him in the long run.
