Roy quickly turned to face the source of the voice, managing to only look slightly startled. How long had she been there? he wondered. Well, she hadn't made any moves to bite him, so he figured she wasn't a vampire. And she wasn't surprised to see them, so she must have been in the know about them.
"She wasn't hurt, was she?" he asked, picking up the arrows he'd fired, checking to see if they were salvageable, and tucking the ones that were back into his quiver. The upside to archery was that the ammunition was reusable- bullets didn't have that advantage. "Looked like they might've gotten a bite or two in before I could get a clear shot."
