He caught the disbelief loud and clear and shook his head, looking down at the mug in his hands. "Right," he replied firmly. They had been close once but he'd seen their relationship as one that was rougher. After all, it hadn't taken him long to point out she was going to die after she'd signed her immortality away to Hamilton.
"To a point. Didn't know Hamilton well enough to say, wouldn't acknowledge Wesley, and it's always fun to make Lilah frustrated," he listed off. "But come to the main point and you all have a similar goal." The answer was blunt but sugarcoating it would be a lie. Not that he had trouble lying when needed but he wasn't about to insult Eve's intelligence.
"Probably. Isn't that a requirement to be a liason?" He sat up a little straighter as his healing ribs began to ache, setting the mug back down.
"The Welcome Center is neutral ground in the city. The purpose is to house people of all alignments upon arrival until they're able to stand on their own two feet. Everyone gets fair treatment as long as they follow the rules," he explained, easily taking on a business attitude. "With the number of people constantly arriving, it was necessary."
