If he'd really been on top of his game, he would've managed to explain to Cathy what he found so funny before the laughter but he managed to avoid offending her too much. He even managed to get her laughing with his explanation. That was something they both needed.
"And they can't even begin to figure out why the hell two people they can't figure out are together," he stated around stray laughter, resting a hand on his aching side. The laughter had been well worth it though. It wasn't exactly healing but it had snapped the deep funk he'd settled in for most of the night. He glanced over at her, sizing her up before a lazy shrug followed. "I don't know all that much about Eva Peron to comment," he replied finally.
His hand went to the one running through his hair. Now that he'd gotten her in a better place, it seemed like the right time to be honest with her. "I'm meeting her for lunch tomorrow. That outdoor cafe I told you about, the one close to my firm where I take clients. Something's up and I want to try and find out what."
