She didn't buy his new "nice guy" act - he could tell. "Oh well," he thought to himself. He supposed it didn't matter much anyway, not in the long run. For the time being it had been...beneficial to have someone to work with (although putting it that way was something of a stretch), but Sylar knew that eventually he would have to get rid of Elle, too. It was no fault of her own, really...well, blasting him the first time he had ever seen her certainly didn't help her cause. But, really, her fate had been sealed the day she was born with those powers. The worst thing someone with special abilities could do was cross paths with Sylar, and in a weird way he almost - almost - pitied those who had fallen to him. But not too much.
He leaned back in his seat, deciding not to waste any further time trying to win her back to his side. He could see she was upset about something, and whether it completely had to do with him or not he figured it was best to ignore it. Instead, his thoughts turned to what she had said. It was actually a good point - it made sense that the Cheerleader would be out there, trying to play "hero." Still, that didn't get them any closer to finding her.
If worse came to worse, Sylar figured, he could always set a building on fire, or create a massive traffic accident, and hope that the resultant news coverage would bring Claire running, looking to help. But that would be a last resort. He had waited this long to finally get his hands on her, he could wait a little longer. He just hoped he could keep Elle under control while he waited.
"Just keep driving, then," he said, no longer bothering with the friendly voice. "Try to head for any sirens you hear, or towards any commotion you notice. If you're right, maybe we'll get lucky. And then both of you can finally face destiny." It was a slip...he realized it as soon as he said it. He should have kept his threats focused on Claire, and not reminded Elle of her tenuous situation. Then again, he was still in control here, as far as he was concerned. What could this girl really do to him, in the end?
