She hopped out of the car and he immediately went back to double check on the body propped up in the back seat. Blanket secured, body still held up in a manner that could be passed off as sleeping, Sam slipped back into the front and worked at adjusting the heating system so that things didn't get too cold for her on the inside. It was fairly chilly out. The heat would be useful.
While waiting, Sam did his best to avoid looking over at the body in the seat behind him. It weirded him out. Oddly, not as much as the baby did. He could handle dead bodies hanging out in the same vehicle as him, all covered up with his own blanket and everything. Like it was normal. But the kid? Nope. No way. That could be handed straight off to the hospital.
