"Yeah, they do that sometimes," Sam told her stiffly. If she had trouble with the concept of the child looking at her, Sam couldn't begin to imagine as to how odd it was going to be for Ruby to actually carry the baby inside without tripping over herself in the process. He released a huff of breath and looked down at the small figure cradled in his arms. He'd be fine, wherever he was going. Someone nice would take him in and would raise him up the right way. It was better than leaving the baby with that vampire or just ditching it at the house where they'd found it in the first place. Certainly much better than taking him home with him. The hospital was the way to go.
"You've gotta be real careful with him," Sam said sharply, looking out to Ruby. "Hold him right and...and don't drop him or anything, okay?" Dropping the baby would be bad. Very bad.
