He'd come straight from work, it really should have been a worrying sign to the demon that she knew his rota almost without thinking, but knowing where he was and that he was safe had become all the more important to her since what the Fire Bitch had very nearly done. Ruby didn't like to think about what she'd be doing now if he'd died in that oven thing. LA would be a much less happy place this week, or she'd be dead, or in hell.
Maybe both. Likely both.
"Not long" she finally replied, more than a little amused at his apparent mood, much as she could tell he didn't want to be here, doing this, he'd come here, and she suspected she knew what, or rather, who, had changed his views finally. So strong he could keep a Slayer safe, thats what she'd pretty much promised, anyone and everyone he cared about and now that included Faith.
Which was fine, or would be after tonight. Because after tonight he could love who he wanted if it made him happy, in fact she wanted happiness for him and Faith brought him that. But he would need her. Need her, and want her around and when it came to it, when they let his abilities and power really be known, that would be important.
She gestured near the tree where shed laid out her coat, there was no preamble about why they were here, not even much banter beyond the amusement at the shrug and just how obvious it was he wanted to be elsewhere, with another brunette.
"Sit, Promise I won't keep you from her too long" she joked and knelt down to sit on the coat still twirling her knife.
