The distraction couldn't have been any more timely. The other man's arrival and shout got the vamp's attention off of him and provided Eliot with what he needed to put an end to this once and for all. Catching the stake, he flipped it around in his hand to get the sharp end pointing in the right direction.
The vampire turned back uncertainly, not willing to take his attention completely off the newcomer. Eliot pushed what advantage he still had, forcing the vampire to swing out defensively. A duck under his arm, a shove back against the SUV to knock him off balance, and when the vamp lunged again, he was ready, throwing his weight into it. The stake slammed home and the vamp exploded into ash.
Eliot brushed off his clothing, stifling a sneeze as he stepped back from the settling cloud. In the dim light from what few lamps were in the lot, he found the flash drive. Pocketing it, he turned to the newcomer.
"Thanks, man." He held up the stake and made to toss it back to him. "That's some nice timing you got there," he added with a small grin.
