He finally took his shirt off and despite the seriousness of the situation, Faith found herself sending up a silent thank you to whoever was listening. Because damn he looked good. And she was pretty sure it wasn't the intense heat making her think that, even if her head was spinning.
The ranting she could handle, she was getting used to it and she had all kinds of retorts ready about how no one could save everyone and people who put themselves in danger on a regular basis like her were even harder to protect all the time.
But when his tone became calmer, Faith actually shut up, listening in a fairly dumbfounded sort of way.
"I need you too," she offered a half smile as she looked at him. "I need you and you've never let me down. You've never failed me and this certainly doesn't count as starting to. So, I don't care if the world needs me or not, the one who matters most is you. Always has been."
Did he understand? Faith watched him closely, wondering if he heard the parts she wasn't saying. About how when she said she loved him she didn't just mean as a friend. She was close, so damn close, to just letting the words spill out of her mouth, but still, she just couldn't bring herself to make that final step yet.
