WHO: Sam and Faith. WHAT: Buffy is back. Sam is concerned. WHEN: Late afternoon. WHERE: The Hyperion; Faith's room. RATING: TBD.
Having gone through quite the unsettling experience the night before with Ruby, Sam decided that he needed to take a break from his usual routine in exchange for getting a few things done on a personal level. He wanted to say that maybe he'd be able to get back into the swing of life at home, that he could go back to being around more often, being more reliable, all of that stuff that everyone wanted from him, but Sam didn't want to sit there and say anything like that to anyone unless he knew for sure that he would be able to do as much. He hated knowing that he was worrying people and letting them down, but he wasn't about to dive into it all only to disappoint everyone all over again. Even if it was bad enough, knowing that he was disappointing people.
Especially himself. He could still taste it. No matter how many times he brushed his teeth, no mater what he ate or drank, it was still there. Inside of him. Part of her was inside of him and he wanted to rip it out. Even if it had made him feel better. Not by much, because he hadn't consumed a lot, but he seemed a bit more rested than he had before. Sam felt good and it bothered him that he did. He wasn't supposed to feel like this. Not when he knew that it was probably because of the blood he had consumed.
He had to eliminate those feelings. That guilt. Faith would see right through him and Sam needed to be here for her. Buffy was here, after all, and the last he checked? Their bad history was not something that Faith often enjoyed dealing with. Particularly not after being slugged in the face by the other Slayer.
Having gone through all he usual routines at the front desk, Sam moved out to Faith's room. He knew how to get there easy by now, as much time as he spent coming and going around there, picking her up, just hanging out, the usual brand of friendly stuff. He was actually really very glad that Faith had contacted him. He knew that she wanted her space and he was more than prepared to give it to her, but he had no idea as to what he was agreeing to until after he and Faith had finished talking the other night. He didn't think that it would have hurt so much, knowing that she wanted to be away from him. The feeling had shocked him when it came and for a long while, Sam had trouble understanding it. Hell, he still was trying to understand it. There was nothing wrong with giving a person extra space, right? Sometimes it was necessary. It had still hurt. More than it should have. Sam had no idea why that was.
He reached her door and gave it a couple knocks. Whatever the case, they were talking now. And he was going to show Faith that she had nothing to be afraid of. He was here, her support, and he wasn't gonna let her fall. That was what he was there for.
