"You said that he was here usually. That doesn't really fill me with confidence."
She took a step back. "I know how I was hurt. I did it to myself." That might sound weird if they didn't know the circumstances, but she was not going to explain herself to this guy.
"One thing I know about Angel is that he doesn't give up, ever. So if he left then whatever is going on...wherever I am, is seriously wrong. Another vote for not wanting to be here." She was frustrated and found herself starting to pace.
"How do I know you're not in deep, deep denial? Or just a liar? They have those here, don't they? Liars? What proof do you have that you aren't one? An honest face?" Buffy scowled.
"I'm not supposed to be here. I wanna leave. And it looks like all you can do is lead me to a higher-up. So...do it. Just keep your distance." Eyeing him warily she started walking again. Apparently not going to attack or freak out anymore. If Buffy could remember, or actually knew this Jack - she'd feel bad for being so defensive. But she couldn't take the risk of trusting him. She had to go with her gut. And in her gut, she knew she'd never met him. So he had to be lying.
