"My jokes aren't this elaborate," Buffy said. The guy was talking, worried, and it was all kind of buzzing by her. That was, until she caught onto a word she knew: Hyperion.
Her thought processes started clicking right away. "We're in L.A.? I'm in L.A.? Why would I be here? What's more...why am I trusting you? ...Guess I shouldn't ask you that. You'd say anything...although I gotta say I'm not getting any vampire or demon vibe off you. So if you're evil it's of the human variety...and...I probably should stop internal monologuing aloud...ugh."
She sat up slowly, just a little dizzy. "Something is wrong. I guess that's obvious. He had offered her a hand and she took it, standing. "Why would you work with Angel?" It might have been less confusing to say 'at the Hyperion' but ever since it had been mentioned she had been thinking of Angel, thinking that he and his dream team of everyone could help figure out what had happened to her.
"I think I may have fallen through a portal of some sort," she finally gave as a way of explaining things to Jack. "That's as much as I can guess. It didn't hurt that much...but I left people behind...and well, I mean the world didn't get turned into mush so I guess it worked...but this just isn't making sense and...I just want to make sure everyone is okay. Priority one. Then maybe I'll try to figure out why you seem to know me when I really can't place you...and I've never been at the Hyperion for more than a day..."
The pair had started walking, maybe aimlessly. "Wait, did you give me your name yet? Oh - Jack. Well, hi Jack. I'm Buffy. Or...I guess you know that. You might know a lot about me. Try to ignore that. It's just weird." She was leaning on him a little as they walked, almost for unconscious emotional support. "Tell me something about you?"
