WHO: Castiel (Closed) WHAT: An angel's ponderings WHEN: late night WHERE: Sitting on top of the Hollywood sign RATING: Low STATUS: COMPLETE
The world seemed so small from here, or at least Castiel supposed it would seem to any mortal, perched as he was on the first 'L' of the 'Hollywood' sign, overlooking Los Angeles. Night had long since fallen and the lights of the city were shining in various shades of vibrant colors. For some reason the city seemed most comfortable at night, most as itself, as much a creature of the night as some of the demons that inhabited it.
In such a loud and chaotic city, it was sometimes hard to find a quiet place just to be, even for an angel. Castiel had grown attached to sometimes escaping and coming up here, on the top of the sign, just watching everyone. It gave him the space to think.
It seemed he'd been doing a lot of that recently. Wondering if he was doing the right thing, fearing the future. How long it seemed since the days of knowing exactly what to do without question or hesitation. And ever since that conversation with Ben, he'd wondered, did he even have any control over the situation any more.
The truth was he had no idea exactly what went on in those training sessions between Sam and Ruby. Oh he trusted her, he knew there was nothing sexual going on despite how it seemed. But sometimes other doubts still crept into his mind. What was going on? How far would it go? Could Sam resist the temptation of Azazel's blood inside him and the power it could potentially offer him. All of the angels knew of the plan to turn him into the By King of hell, Azazel's ultimate quest for power. But with Azazel dead- twice- where did that leave the plans or the power?
The angel let out a long sigh, leaning back slightly and looking up at the stars. Uriel was gone. As was the Metatron and Bartleby, as well as the Lord Almighty. The places he could go for advice and guidance were becoming limited rather rapidly. There was still Eve, and he trusted her council, but still, he was hesitant to put too much of a burden on her. These were his troubles after all and it would be unfair to unload them onto her.
"I wish I knew what to do," he murmured softly, his gaze looking beyond the stars now. "Where can I go to find the answers?"
The only answer was a soft breeze flowing past, catching his coat slightly. Figured. Castiel remained where he was for several more hours, trying to figure out a way to save everyone, even from themselves, each idea more unworkable than the last.
