There was a part of Faith that knew that Claire had a good reason to be suspicious. It was pretty telling, and everything in Ruby's words seemed to lead towards the conclusion that they were sleeping together.
She leaned back in her chair and sighed, dragging her fingers through her hair as she tried to think.
"It does look pretty bad," she admitted. "But I just know that they're..." she stopped and swallowed.
"I am close to Sam," she started, her tone somewhat hesitant and cautious. "And I would hope that he would have told me himself. But even so, she just..." Again she stopped. How could she actually say it without saying that Ruby would definitely told her if they were together as part of the whole discouraging Faith from her own feelings? Because that would have been a damn fast way to end that train right then and there.
"It does look bad," she finally said. "Really bad." And she wondered for the first time just what Ruby's agenda was as a small frown crossed her face. "What do you think of Ruby?"
