He was enjoying it. Where he once may have been ashamed, Sam was now eager and excited. He wouldn't admit it out loud, not yet, but they weren't exactly standing where they were before, where he'd downright deny it all if questioned about it. What he was doing right now, taking down the bad guys, releasing his anger. It made him feel good. And with Ruby in the background, looking so terribly pleased, Sam couldn't help but want to do it more. He was doing something right. After a lifetime of screwing up, Sam was making the right decision here by deciding to get better so that he could help more people. It was the right thing to do. The right thing.
Getting elbowed in the face had pissed him off a bit. Grabbing the vampire responsible for it by the hair, he slammed the creatures disfigured face into a table and used a push of his mind to send an incoming demon sprawling onto the ground. Hands still gripping at the vampires collar, Sam yanked the creature back and, with an air of accomplishment, forced his body down onto the leg of an overturned chair. It dusted easy.
He fought his way through most of the group before people started bailing on the fight. That left nothing but the disgruntled Leather Jacket Guy for Sam to deal with. Who, when he reached his table, got dragged up roughly by the collar.
"Why don't we try this again? Let's go outside." Because really, this one was the only one that Sam wanted to mess with.
