He'd get it back, everything he had to loose right now, he'd get it back, they'd understand, they'd see it like she did, see him like she did. She didn't like seeing him hurt. But for now, the things he was doing. It was the only way. She held his gaze till he looked away looked toward the demon and when he did that, when she stepped forward, Ruby knew her place.
And Sam? He was enjoying it. Maybe even relishing in it. She'd been right about this. She stood back, watched eyes fixed on the demon in the centre of it all, the one in the leather jacket. He was the one who wouldn't get away. He was the prize in all this after all. And Sam. Well watching him, watching how far he'd come was as thrilling as ever.
He could only get stronger with her help. Soon he'd see that for himself. But for now, this was enough, for now this was all he needed.
