Nathan couldn't have achieved a better confused puppy face had he practiced for weeks. "We're at the Hyperion, Ma. Where we've- oh, Christ."
Looking skyward, Nathan succinctly and colorfully cursed the Powers That Be before looking back at his mother. Just great. They couldn't even bring her back as they'd sent her away? There were several options – they'd wiped her memory and it would need jogged or she wasn't from the same place and had no memories, and with the latter, the possibilities of "when" were endless – and none of them were particularly appealing to Nathan.
"Nathan, I swear, getting him to-"
Sarah's arrival was announced by a cut off declaration that originally carried with it a great deal of fondness, but the good humor faded in favor of surprise as she realized Nathan wasn't alone. It wasn't an expression that lasted long, as her smile widened into something warm and clearly relieved upon realizing it was Angela.
Nathan didn't look exactly happy, but that didn't immediately tip Sarah off.
"You look like someone just kicked you in the stomach," she said to him with a snort as she leaned against him, the action companionable and sisterly to anyone who knew them, then turned to look at Angela.
