"Yes." She offered a nod, sure of that much. "Turn off the laptops, the phones..." Already, it was sounding too good to be a real possibility. Their luck, disaster would strike as soon as the bags were packed. And she might have to cry.
"What do I want?" Cathy repeated the question ponderously, taking it to heart. The answer came immediately to her, and was far too simple. It sounded contrived even to her own ears, in fact, but there was no other way to get around it. "I want to spend the rest of my life with you."
She knew him, knew how much is must have taken for him to make that decision and ask for her hand in marriage. So far, he hadn't shown any regret when it came to popping the question, but she wanted to make absolutely certain he still felt the same way now that the heat of the moment was over.
"The wedding isn't important, not for anyone else," she told him sincerely. "I was thinking...it could even just be the two of us, maybe two witnesses, someone we trust for each of us?"
