There was something in the way she said it that caught his attention. Lindsey's gaze moved from the coffee table to the woman sitting in his lap, studying her expression for any hints to what she was feeling. "I just wish that it hadn't taken you away from yours," he replied. "I wouldn't want to let you go for the world. It's selfish but I don't care."
He loved the feel of her fingers running through his hair, eyes sliding shut as he relaxed. "Competitive work atmosphere, you don't make friends. Any one of your colleagues might put a knife between your shoulders if it gets them a step up to the next level." He opened an eye, frowning slightly. "Of course, that's a demonic law firm.
