Despite his age, Ben tended to grasp some of the subtleties of conversation with adults, knowing how they could usually be biased about something and then talk about one side more than the other. It was a little harder with Castiel because he was doing the Serious Angel Guy Face and saying things carefully, but Ben still thought it sounded like he was at least talking equally about both sides.
For months now, Ruby had been like his best friend, so even now that she didn't seem to be anymore, and seemed like she was only doing stuff in secret to hurt people, Ben still agreed that Ruby couldn't help what she was and what she sometimes did, but more and more he'd begun to wonder if maybe her being friends with his uncle wasn't such a good idea. Heather was gone, and the baby too, what if other stuff happened?
"Maybe they're right. Grandpa and Dad know what they're doing," he said, standing up a little straighter, looking clearly like a very loyal little kid. For Ben, it hadn't gone as far as thinking Ruby would deliberately not stop or even egg Sam on, but Ruby not being able to stop Sam? Maybe that could happen.
"And you're an angel," he said, scuffing his shoe in the dirt, "you probably've seen a lot of corrupted people."
