Serra adjusted the last parts of her Jedi robes. Her lightsabers were firmly clipped to the belt at her hips. She had read what Tenel and the others wrote on the board, and she was still reeling from it. She had tried meditating, but she couldn't summon enough mental focus for it to be effective. Against her earlier inclinations, she was going to go out. She had put off doing what she needed to do for far too long. She was a Jedi, and the Jedi protected people. There was no better way of doing so than getting with the program and accepting her purpose here, and in the process, maybe she would resolve some of the torrent of emotion that had taken hold of her.
She had to fight someone. Not in anger, like Jacen - or Anakin - but fighting someone to protect the people of this city would give her some focus. She had to remind herself of what it meant to be a Jedi. Fighting always gave her focus, the way to he blades responded to her every move, pouncing on or blocking an attacker. Dueling and katas were more than just sparring sessions or practice stances. They were therapeutic for some Jedi, enabling them to get in touch with feelings in a way meditation couldn't.
It was easy to climb the rooftops of some of the lower buildings, so she could monitor things more accurately. She put all thoughts of Jacen or the Sith out of her mind, focusing on finding the targets she wanted to confront. It didn't take long until she saw the first group of vampires that needed to be disposed of.
