The place they were at, this shopping mall designed like an authentic Italian village, had drawn the expected amount of ooo-ing and aah-ing from Claire, but it had been genuine. It was a really nice place, but even if they'd ended up at McDonald's, she'd have been happy, because there was a feeling to this dinner that appealed to her – it felt family-like. From the outside view, they probably looked like a normal little family – a father, a mother, two sisters, two brothers.
It was awesome.
"It's kind of hard not to notice the prices," she murmured, but in the spirit of this being a special occasion, she tried to focus on picking a birthday meal and not how totally expensive it was going to be.
The shopping later, of course, would be different. There she might well ignore a few price tags!
