Cathy had only been half-paying attention, curled up on the couch with a book as she tried, for the time being, to ignore the fact that life had turned into one giant show-stopper. It had been cool (well, that was putting it lightly) at first, but now? She had a loop of at least seventy five melodies stuck in her head at every given moment, and it was driving her a little batty.
The dog barreled in with something in his mouth, committedly pursued by her boyfriend, who proceeded to win the struggle that ensued over the--...what was that box, anyway? Then the music started, and she was on her feet.
In lieu of the dance she had been expecting, a quiet stillness fell over her as Lindsey sang, the words touching her heart and deeply. She had seen the hesitation written on his face, her first instinct to console him that the admittance was not unrequited.
"In a place that won't let us feel, in a life where nothing seems real, I have found you. I have found you. In a world that's moving too fast, in a world where nothing can last, I will hold you. I will hold you"
A soft smile came to her face as she took a step forward, reaching out to brush his shoulder, encouraging him to speak--or in this case, sing--whatever it was that had prompted the interlude in the first place.
Why don't you trace it on my hand? Or...make a song--do anything. Say it somehow, I will understand. I know you."
