As she was walking up out of the subway, Nikki reflected that even thought the singing was absolutely ridiculous, she could damn well dig the music that seemed to be following her around everywhere. Especially now. She didn't have her leather trench, but that was okay, she could still pretend that this was a recreation of the opening scene in Shaft. Even if it was the wrong music playing behind her. She knew what the music meant. Singing was probably inevitable, but God help her if she wasn't doing her best to keep her mouth closed, not evening opening it for the cigarette she so desperately wanted (apparently smoking wasn't allowed inside of buildings these days, whatever bullshit that was).
Her hand hovered above her Lucky Strikes pocket, but Nikki reached for a stake instead before crossing one of LA's many busy streets. At least something between her fingers would keep her hands and mind busy until she found something to shove wood through.
There was a sudden, loud screech of breaks and with honed slayer senses Nikki jumped out of the way of a yellow taxi cab that she would've sworn was purposely trying to hit her black ass. Just like fuckin' New York, she thought, just as she opened her mouth to give what she thought would be an appropriate, "up yours, asshole!" But as the music suddenly grew louder, that was not what came out.
"Darkest of night with the moon shining bright, there's a set goin' strong, lotta things goin' on. The girl of the hour has an air of great power the vamps have wanted her for so long..."
She wasn't entirely sure, but this just might have been worse than the night she'd died.
"Oooh, Nikki Wood, you're gonna slay them 'suckers like you should. But if you lose, don't ask no questions why. The only game you know is Do or Die. Ah-ha-ha..."
Now she just wanted to kill something.
