If only he had known. If only. He didn't know what had happened to start it all off. Sam had holed himself up in his room after work, completely in the mindset that he was going to just lounge and hang out until he was ready for bed. It had been a long day, one where he often found himself feeling pangs of unexpected dread, all directed toward the woman who was living right in the house next door. It hurt, thinking about her. Maybe that was why he had decided to flip a CD on. Silverstein. Really hard stuff, but meaningful at the same time. With the music ticking away, he pulled up a few maps, looking over them for potential vampire nests that he'd be able to crash with Ruby later on when they needed to train up.
And that was when it started. Discovering the Waterfront. God, that song. Why? Why? Setting his pencil down, Sam turned to look at the radio, listening quietly to the lyrics as they poured out.
Then, for some unexplainable reason, he was leaning back, singing the lyrics out as best as he could. Which, admittedly, wasn't very well at all.
"I'm tired of lying, I'm tired of fighting you. And it's not gonna change," he sang out slowly, turning back to look at the maps thoughtfully. "You asked for my heart. You know that I'm down."
God. THIS SONG.
Looking rather determined, he jumped up from his chair and hit the next verse with a fierce look in his eyes. "I've sailed off to sea. I'M NOT COMING BACK."
