To be honest, looking back, he had just been happy that someone had seen him as someone worth taking an interest in. His relationship with her was beginning to make him realize a few things about himself that he'd otherwise ignored, like the absence of the want of approval wasn't as complete as he tried to act. "Yeah," he answered, rubbing a thumb along the line of his jaw and finding a small spot he'd missed shaving.
"The Sound of Music?" Lindsey chuckled. "I have no idea who that is but I just got this picture of you skipping around the Swiss countryside," he teased her before his expression softened. "It sounds like it's been a constant in your life. Takes a lot to stick with it like you have."
There was admiration in his voice. She tried. She'd come home to him more than once after an audition that hadn't quite gone the way she'd wanted or a call back that never came. But he'd seen her on stage, the vibrancy she brought to the character she played that only came from the love of what she did. She never gave up.
