"You never know," Heather replied with a small nod. "Maybe he'll surprise you. Along with the stubborn masculine stuff, they can be unpredictable, too."
Heather knew that through firsthand experience, too. Sam was good at pulling shockers left and right. Their breakup had been the biggest one. She hadn't even seen that one coming at all.
"There's not a me and Sam anymore," she said, shaking her head and shifting Cian a little in her arms. She didn't want him feeling uncomfortable against her round stomach. "Not in any sense. We haven't spoken beyond forced small talk since it happened. If it wasn't for the baby, I doubt we'd be interacting at all."
