"It's okay. Really," Heather replied, busying herself with the work. Anything was a good distraction, and she knew she wouldn't have been sleeping anyway.
Setting up the coffeemaker while Tonks explained the situation, Heather tried to come up with some comforting thoughts to voice aloud, not wanting them to sound forced or empty at the same time. It was a harsh situation, and while she could relate in a way, she couldn't understand completely. She didn't want to say something stupid while trying to be helpful.
"You can't help what you worry about," she said, turning away from the bubbling machine and returning to sit next to the other woman on the couch. "And you can worry about multiple things at once, you shouldn't feel guilty about it all. Just...you can only do so much right now. And that's stay safe and let him do his thing. You can deal with the rest later. You can find a way to fix him up, you can talk to him about this when things settle down. But right now? Just try to relax and don't get yourself too upset. I mean, you...you have your son to keep an eye out for. That can be your focus right now." Heather was really beginning to think of the child first in any situation, and it seemed that radiated past herself and to Cian, as well.
