"I was going for a walk," she answered with a defensive shrug. Walking made her feel less guilty than going for a drive in the car she'd brought with the money she'd stolen. The result was the same, either way. It got her out of the flat.
If Alistair was going to come after her for it, then so be it. She'd been in that sort of mood lately, coming to the realisations that she was living on borrowed time and maybe Alistair's reappearance in her life meant something. It wasn't as if she'd done much with this 'second chance' on Earth.
"I'm not very good at staying cooped up. That's one thing that hasn't changed," Bela shook her head and looked over at the porch again. "I assume you heard what happened? Takes a bloody lot of walks to get that out of your head."
