Who: Lisa Garland What: The reason for her apology to Alessa. Where: A hospital in L.A. When: Backdated to before her post defending Alessa. Rating: PG-13, for mentions of injuries. Status: Narrative, in progress.
The hospital's emergency room was filled with people as unusual - doctors rushing to patients, people waiting to be attended, nurses interacting with everyone. Lisa Garland walked by in her nurse's uniform, setting down a patient file she had retrieved at the appropriate desk.
Being a nurse was fulfilling, but it was stressful work that left Lisa harried more often than not. The hospital in L.A. was far busier than the one in Silent Hill, and she had seen more than her fair share of gruesome sights. While her job was to attend to those people after the doctors treated them, and to attend to patients not in dire condition before the doctors examined them, it remained that she had seen a lot of disturbing sights in her time here, or heard news that was just horrible to hear. She enjoyed what she did, but it required a sacrifice as far as a peaceful work setting.
They had been seeing a rise in the number of victims brought in with outstanding injuries. People found mutilated or worse, sometimes crippled with frighteningly precise injuries. Something was going on the city, and she had a feeling it had something to do with that demon she kept hearing about on the board. Add to that the regular accident and crime victims found in L.A. every day, and it was a miracle Lisa had a break to drink coffee sometimes.
Today Lisa had focused more on her work with usual. She was generally very good at focusing strictly on hospital matters, but now it went double. That argument with Alessa still lingered in her mind. How dare Alessa accuse her of believing she was a terrible person? She was only trying to find out what was wrong with her. She did nothing but care for the girl! Maybe she had made a mistake, but did it really warrant such a harsh response? She had no idea how much it made Lisa hurt, to hear those things from her only friend in the city.
Whatever else Lisa was about to think was pushed to the side, as the next patient was wheeled into the emergency room on a stretcher. A young woman of dark hair, pale skin, around the same age as someone she knew. She could have been Alessa, under different circumstances. She was bloody and bruised, with blood all over her leather jacket and jeans. Apparently she had been in a car accident, from what she was hearing.
