He didn't know how to reply to her not returning the favour comment because she had, so many times. She had saved him over and over in the ways that really counted and weren't just stupid, half crazy ways like bursting into the Fitzpatrick bar with a gun drawn or breaking a police cruiser windshield to get thrown into the same cell as Mercer. Even when they weren't together everything he did that was good or at least trying to be good was because of her.
He could feel his heart pounding against his chest as she looked up at him like that and he paused after she kissed him, that soft tiny little thing. Acting completely on his less honourable impulses he slipped a hand behind her head, tangled in her hair and pressed his lips to hers, a far cry from her chaste, tiny kiss.
