He thought that over for a moment and then grinned. "You're right, as usual, that is probably how it would play out."
He almost seemed to visibly flinch as she brought up Madison, the whole thing had ended up costing him more than he could have every imagined and for the life of him he still couldn't figure out what the hell he had been thinking when he had done it. Although the shots that Mercer and Dick had kept giving him might have had something to do with that. But here Veronica was saying she didn't hate him at least, which was one hell of a step up from out of her life forever.
"It's not like I helped with all the crap though, you had every right to get mad at me," he pointed out. "I shouldn't have got after Piz like that, I just... the thought of him doing that to you was more than I could handle," he paused. "Though I guess if he turned out to be a jerk anyways we can just call it my pre-emptive strike."
