Who: Maxine Gibson and anyone in Wayne Manor
What: Wandering in. Oops?
When: Sunset
Where: Wayne Manor
status/rating: incomplete/TBD
"I should be getting a paycheck too, y'know," Max muttered. "Like, not as much as Terry's, 'cause he does do most of the work –of course, I would so do that work with him—but come on now, I'm walking the dog. When the hell did I turn into the Offical Wayne Dog-Walker. Definitely not in my job description… oh wait. Hah. I don't have a job description. Because I'm not on the payroll. I walk the dog, do the research, make the excuses, babysit the little brother, help with the home work, and I'm not--- Ace! Ace, calm down. Are you even paying attention?"
Maxine Gibbons was talking to a dog. A large black mixed German Shepard named Ace, to be exact. Ace the dog, her personal therapist who wasn't all the good of a listener. Show him a tree with an interesting smell and he was off, just like he was now.
Great, not even the dog wanted to listen to her rant. Max wasn't exactly sure how she was supposed to feel about that and frowned, watching as Ace bounded off towards the small wooded area boardering the mannor property. "Fine, I get it," she said, throwing up her hands and letting go of the leash. "Taking a crap is more important than listening to my problems." With a huffy sight, she followed Ace to the woods, knowing that if she returned to the manor later without the dog, there would be issues.
Ace hadn't run far, just past the first few trees, stopping before the trees got too dense. He seemed rather content to take his time doing his business and Max turned around to give him the privacy to do so and so she didn't gross her self out. Because dog shit? Ew.
"Out in the woods with the dog when I could be doing home work, helping Terry with this latest batch of Jokerz…" There was a nudge at her leg and she turned, seeing Ace sitting calmly at her side, the lead hanging out of his mouth like he was a perfectly innocent and obedient creature. Hah. The only people he listened to without question were Bruce and Terry. Max got obedience maybe, 75% of the time.
Still, she didn't mind having the dog around. He was friendly for the most part and he was loyal to the end, even if he didn't listen all of the time. And he usually listened during their afternoon walks when she ranted and raved about everything from her mother, to Dana, to her computer. He even gave little grunts and barks of support. Nah, Ace wasn't all bad to have around. She just preferred it when he didn't get it into his head to go running all over the place.
For now, Max reached down for the leash in his mouth and smiled when he gave it over without a fight. "Good boy," she said, patting his head before they set out of the woods and back towards the manor.
The grounds were pretty expansive and it took Max and Ace a good time to get back to the pantry door where they'd left to begin with. With the sun setting, it was getting dark out, only serving to enhance the usual gloominess of the cityscape below them. It always looked different in the dark, even moreso this evening, Max thought. A few buildings looked taller, and some shorter, maybe even out of place.
"You and your two Batmen have me going insane from lack of sleep," Max muttered to Ace, reaching out for the doorknob to enter the pantry. Her hand hit the wood of the door and she looked in surprise. The pantry doorknob had definitely always been on the left. Now, she was looking at a shiny brass knob on the right. "And apparently Mr. Wayne finds it funny to switch the knobs on his doors. Great…" Luckily, despite the change, the door was still open and Max and Ace stepped inside.
"You hungry?" Max scratched behind the dog's ears as she removed her light jacket. "I'm hungry. To the kitchen. Terry might be in the kitchen." At Terry's name, Ace bounded off. Max rolled her eyes before hurrying to follow to the kitchen.
