Jean turned to face him once he come to sit next to her. She hadn't expected him to do that, but she was grateful that he wasn't shunning her.
Most would turn their backs on a murderer.
"Part of me liked it," she admitted. "Perhaps not the killing, but the freedom that the power gave to me.... it was intoxicating."
Jean had never exactly been what some would consider 'mousy.' But she was always self-possessed, or at least that was what she had always projected to the world around her.
She couldn't be impulsive. She had to be mature and responsible.
She sighed, looking down for a moment.
"I really needed to get this off my chest," she explained, then averted her eyes back to his own. "Thank you for listening," she told him, reaching out to grabs ahold of one of his hands.
