Tony listened to each word she spoke with great compassion. To go through something like that at such a young age was unimaginable. This was one reason he disliked child psychology- he didn't like to think about children going through such trauma. It just didn't seem right- didn't seem fair.
"It was an accident," he said softly when she had paused momentarily. "You did everything you could to help."
He nearly added something about it wasn't her fault- any of it- but he wanted to hear the rest of the story first. However, when something like that happened at such a young age it was natural for the child to blame themselves. He couldn't help saying what little he had.
