Jean hesitated to answer. She hated putting anyone out by discussing her problems, because they were just that: her problems. But if she kept internalizing everything she was thinking about or feeling, there was a risk that she could end up unleashing the Phoenix's fury on an unsuspecting populous, and she could scarcely afford a repeat of Alcatraz Island.
She needed to talk to someone, and despite her reservations about discussing her feelings openly, she couldn't think of anyone she could talk to, save for maybe Logan. But she had made a promise to herself that she wouldn't go running to him. Not unless she had to.
"I guess I could," was her reply, before she exhaled.
"There's a lot you don't know about me, Tony." At this, she looked him straight in the eye, unblinkingly. "I've done some terrible things in my past," she conceded. But everyone had skeletons in their closet. She was the hardly the first person who had done something horrible, but it certainly didn't justify the things she had done.
"I've experienced so much pain."
She knew she was sort of pussyfooting around, but she had to set this up right. Besides that, she was having a really hard time on where she should begin. There was so much to tell.
