Good. That was good. Sam didn't know why it was so important that she stuck around for him right then, but he knew that he didn't want for Ruby to skip off just yet. Maybe he thought that he was going to need another severe ass kicking when he woke up, who knew.
Feeling a slight twinge of relief beneath all of the pain, Sam nodded in satisfaction. There were a lot of things that he could have said to her right then, particularly about how grateful he really was that she had gone out of her way for him - how she always did - but instead, Sam chose to leave her with a slurred, "G'night."
Then he shifted back against his pillow and closed his eyes. It probably wouldn't take too long for sleep to find him. Not when he was readily waiting for it.
