"Weird is my life, definitely," Buffy responded with a slight chuckle. And wasn't that the truth.
As she watched a flicker of concern make it's way across Leah's face, Buffy shrugged her shoulders and glanced around one more time. "I don't trust much of anything around here. But you've gotta take a few risks sometimes." That wasn't really all Buffy wanted to say. She wanted to add that she didn't think the only real safe place in the city was a place where she was welcome anymore, and that she didn't have a choice in the matter. But that would make it sound like she wanted pity or something, and that wasn't the case.
Looking back to the other girl, Buffy nodded, smiling once again despite her previous thoughts. "Good girl," she teased slightly, glad that Leah was at least obeying the others. "You take care of things back there. And take care of yourself."
