WHO: Sam & Ruby. WHAT: Sam Winchester is THIS close to exploding. WHEN: Late evening. WHERE: Wherever! RATING: High. Probably for language and potential violence.
The second Ruby agreed to meet him, Sam crammed some clothes into a backpack and took off. He didn't want to be that guy who got into fights with his girl over stupid stuff and that's exactly what this felt like. She was right. He should have known better than to post something like that with himself and Ruby together. Honestly, he was just looking to figure out why someone would go out of their way to make something so stupid, and he thought that a bit of a rant between himself and his friends would make him feel better. He should have known about the teasing. And her. He really, really should have known better than to throw something like that in her face after all of the conflicts that she and Ruby had together.
But really? Where did she get off getting angry at him? She knew that they were friends, didn't she? Sam certainly hadn't gone out of his way to hide it. He defended her to Ruby, he got Ruby to stop harassing her...wasn't that enough?
Obviously not, he thought to himself, pausing on the sidewalk to adjust the strap of the bag slung over his shoulder. He felt like he constantly had to prove himself to Heather sometimes. Was this really jealousy? Was that really what this was all about? God. Didn't the ring on her finger stand as enough proof for her that she was the woman in his life and not anyone else, least of all Ruby?
Rubbing a hand across his face, he fell to a halt and glanced ahead for the demon. He could see her approaching in the dark. Straightening his shoulders a little, Sam did his best to compose himself. It really was a good thing that he had left. All of the other pent up emotions that he had been bottling inside, combined with this? It only meant that he was going to blow up. Heather didn't need to be on the receiving end of any angry words. Sam didn't think he'd be able to forgive himself if he said anything worth regretting.
