Peter looked up when John began to speak. Damn this house, and its way of muddling his perceptions. It had taken a good deal of trust to tell Dean about himself, trust that John hadn't exactly met. His wince was slight, but not one that he could completely hide. Still, he listened to the older man's words just as intently as he had listened to Dean.
"I've got a lot of mental shielding," Peter said. There was no arrogance in his voice, simply explanation. "Six years worth of telepathy and empathy pretty much made it a requirement, but I'll make sure to strengthen those as much as I can." Six years wouldn't likely be much against something so many thousands - if not millions - of years old, but it was what he had. What he knew. The main disadvantage Peter had, and the one that made him the most vulnerable, was his lack of experience with these kinds of demons. Dean and John had that experience, if not his abilities. Peter would have to listen, ablieve, and do his damn best not to be overconfident.
