"I'm sorry, what?" Sam had been ready to bolt since the minute that they had gotten here. Now that he had been reassured that everything was fine and was going to be fine so long as they did such and such, Sam really didn't want to have to force himself to stay in a place that made him so uncomfortable for any longer than he had already. Stomach twisting in an uncomfortable knot, he tried to suppress the nervous look that jumped across his face the second that doctor had started hauling out machinery. The hell did she need machinery for? The baby wasn't full-grown yet! She didn't need all of that! Just don't take it out, Sam silently pleaded, even while knowing how ridiculous it all sounded in his head, I'm not ready for that, I'm not ready, I'm not ready...
Fingers tightening against the edge of the table that he had been gripping at, Sam ignored the tension in his shoulders and tried to listen to the doctor as she repeated herself all over again.
Heart...?
He swallowed roughly and forced a smile. "Oh, right. That's awesome." Dammit, baby. Dammit. Stop growing.
